Are we really Christians?

Sunday, August 13th, 2006
- 81% of Christians don’t know what the Great Commission is.
- 50% of Christians do not know the content of John 3:16.
- Less than 10% of Christians pray for the salvation of another person
- 67% of churches offer no training in evangelism.
;"Christians
are now cherry picking their beliefs from all
sorts of conflicting
sources and putting them together in a
customized blend that makes us
feel good and then calling it
Christianity. In fact, most individuals
who claim to trust in
Jesus Christ do not have a biblical worldview.
They don’t
think like Christians and they don’t act like Christians.

They don’t even have the basics of the faith nailed down."

Do we really Rely and Count on the Holy Spirit?
"If
the Holy Spirit didn’t turn up to church, this Sunday Morning,
would
many churches realize it? Sadly many wouldn’t, and some would go on
for
weeks without realizing it, except that they might notice that there
are no
warm fuzzies. The reason for this is that, most of the church
has
become man led and man controlled. Even though we say that we are

committed to the leading of the Holy Spirit, in actual practice we
depend on ourselves."

The
world has seen many reformations in it’s history, but none like
the one
that God is about to bring upon the church, it will turn the
church
upside down. Many, Christians today, believe that God is getting
ready
for a mighty move of His Spirit and are waiting with much anticipation.
Many of these people, however, haven’t realized that a new wineskin
must
be formed first, then God will pour out the new wine (Lk.
5:37-39).
Our desire is for God to first pour out His Spirit, then we
will make
a new wineskin to fit it, but Jesus says, "no one puts new
wine into old
wineskins", and that includes His Father.

Isn’t
reformation too strong a word though, don’t we just need another
revival?
Well, the word revival, means "to restore life to that which
is dead",
is that all we need, to restore life to the church the way it
is?

may comment dun about sa mga ibang churches ngayon,
ganito ang sabi…

I
always tried to stuff down my thoughts about church growth.
Our church
(and others of course) seem to just want to grow big,
but I could never
really see the point of growing big for the
sake of just getting
bigger.
I always felt my thoughts seemed rebellious; and of course,
not
many really understand because it seems so "good" to have
lots of
people coming to your church. But we really must
stop judging by
appearances!!! Just because there are lots of
people coming, that
doesn’t mean that the church or pastors
are any more "on track" with
God, than those that have very
few coming, God knows the hearts.

Ewan basta nabasa ko lang to sa site na ito….
medyo pumukaw sa atensyon ko eh.. totoo yung mga sinasabi eh…

FOOTBALL PLAYER

Friday, August 11th, 2006

There is a moving story about a skinny young boy who had a passion for football. Practice after practice, he eagerly gave everything he had. But being half the size of the other boys, he got absolutely nowhere. At all the games, this hopeful athlete sat on the bench and hardly ever played.

This teenager lived on alone with his father, and two of them had very special relationship. Even though the son was constantly on the bench, his father was always in the stands cheering. He never missed a game. This young man was still the smallest of the class when he entered high school. But his father continued to encourage him but also made it clear that son did not have to play football if he didn’t want to. The young man loved football and decided to it there. He was determined to give his best at every opportunity. Perhaps he’d get to play when he became a senior. Throughout high school he never missed a practice session nor a game. Still, he remained a bench warmer all 4 years.

His faithful father consistently attended the games, always profuse with words of support and encouragement for him. When the son went to college, he decided to try out for the football team as a “walk-in”. Everyone was sure he’d never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that the young man was kept on the roster because he always puts his heart and soul in the game, and provides the other members with the spirit and hustle they badly needed. The news that he had survived the cut thrilled him so much that he rushed to the nearest phone and called his father. The old man shared his excitement and was sent season tickets for all college games. However, the persistent young athlete never got to play in any of them.

It was the end of his senior football season. As the son trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big playoff game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read it and became deathly silent. Swallowing hard, he mumbled “My father died this morning. Is it alright if I miss practice today?”  The coach put his arm around the grief-stricken lad and said, “Take the rest of the week off the week off son. And don’t even plan to come back to the games on Saturday.”

Saturday arrived, and the game was not going well. In the third quarter, when the team was 10 points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room and put on his football gear. As he ran in to the sidelines, the coach and his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon.

“Coach, please let me play. I’ve just got play today, “said the young man. The coach pretended not to hear him. There was no way he wanted his worst player in these close playoff game. But the athlete persisted. Feeling sorry for the kid, the coach relented, “All right. You can go in.”

Before long, the coach, the players, and everyone in the stands could not believe their eyes. This little unknown, who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran Passed, blocked and tackled like a star. His team began to triumph. The score was soon tied. In the closing second of the game, the kid intercepted a pass and ran all the way for the winning touchdown. The fans broke loose. His teammates hoisted him into their shoulders. The cheers were deafening.

Finally, after the stands had emptied, the team had showered and left the locker room, the coach noticed that this young man was sitting quietly in a corner, all alone. He approached him and said, “Kid, I can believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me, what got in to you? How did you do it?” He looked at the coach with tears in his eyes and replied, “You knew my Dad died, BUT DID YOU KNOW THAT MY FATHER WAS BLIND? The young man swallowed hard and forced a smile, “Dad came to all my games, but today was the first time he could see me play. I wanted to show hi I could do it!”

Like the athlete’s father, God is always there cheering for us. He’s always reminding us to go on. He’s even offering us His Hand for He knows what is best, and is willing to give us what we need and not simply what we want. God never missed a single game.Football20black

PAID IN FULL

Friday, August 11th, 2006

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound man’s name embossed in gold.

Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, “With all your money you give me a bible?” and stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old, and thought perhaps he should go to him. He had not seen him since the graduation day. Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father’s important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11, “And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in heaven, give to those who ask Him?

As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag the date of his graduation, and the words…PAID IN FULL.

Dear Son and Daughter

Friday, August 11th, 2006

As you got up this morning, I watched you and hoped you would talk to me, even if it was just a few words, asking my opinion or thanking me for something good that happened in Your life yesterday - but I noticed were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put and to work.

I waited again. When you ran around the house getting ready for school I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello, but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.

I watched as you went to school and I wanted patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy to say anything to me. I noticed that before you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn’t bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn’t.

That’s okay. There is still more time left, and I have hope that you will talk to me, yet you went home and seems as if you had lots of homework to do. After a few of them were done you turned on the TV, I don’t know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there & you spent a lot of time each day in front of it, not thinking about anything-just enjoying the show. I waited patiently again as you watched the TV and ate your meal but again you didn’t talk to me. Bedtime I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time.

That’s okay because you may not realize that I am always there for you. I’ve got patience more than you will ever know. I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well. I love you so much that I waited everyday for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart. It is hard to have a one-sided conversation.

Well you are getting up again and once again. I will wait nothing but love for you hoping that today you will give some time. Have a nice day!

Your friend,

GOD

LIFE’S ECHO

Friday, August 11th, 2006

A son and his father were walking on the mountains. Suddenly, the son falls, hurts himself and screams: “AAAhhhhhhhh!!! To his surprise, he hears the voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: “AAAhhhhh!!! “Curious, he yells: “Who are you?” He receives the answer: “Who are you?” Angered at the response, he screams: “Coward! “He receives the answer: “Coward!”

He looks to his father and asks: “What’s going on?” The father smiles and says: “My son, pay attention.” And then he screams to the mountain: I admire you!” The voice answers: “I admire you!” Again the man screams: “You are a champion!” The voice answers: “You are a champion!”

The boy is surprised, but does not understand. Then the father explains: “People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE. It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions. If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart. If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence. This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have given on it.

YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT’S A REFLECTION OF YOU!
